Import a bitmap

This example explain how you can import a bitmap into a flash movie (To convert a bitmap to a vector graphic).

Below you can see the bitmap images that we now shall make a button of in our flash movie.



Copy the bitmap image (sketch) from the program you use, choose Edit -> Paste Special into Flash. Then you get the following window.




 

In the dialog box above choose, ' Device Independent Bitmap'. Then choose Control -> Test Movie (Ctrl + Enter), this image you get will not have the nicest design.

To get a more ultimate design, do as follow. Select your bitmap in the current scene. Choose Modify -> Trace Bitmap.




   

Choose the values that are mention above, these values will create a vector graphic that has the ultimate appearance of the original bitmap image.

In the Flash movie example the first bitmap images shows, bitmap image as imported. The two last images show the result after using the 'Trace Bitmap'-way.

Macromedia Fireworks users:

If you use Fireworks, it's easy to import your image into Flash. In Fireworks choose Edit -> Select All (Ctrl + A) then Edit -> Copy (Ctrl + C). In Flash choose Edit -> Paste Special. Then you get the following window: (remember to paste as 'PNG Bitmap')
